Scrubs (Med School): Our Dear Leaders

So this is awkward…ABC pulled the remaining two episodes of this season off the schedule. Is this the end? Again?

Lucy claims her study group is a well oiled machine, particularly when they distract Cole, who is a shmuck. (My word.) Dr. Cox announces it’s “Hell Week”. Sounds kind of bad. But maybe I’m being too cynical. But Denise points out even she barely got through her own seven days in the inferno, and Denise is 90 percent cyborg, so damn they’re in trouble. Drew tells Dr. Cox he doesn’t want to be a leader, and since he’s “No.1″ he doesn’t get an ass kicking. At four A.M. Cox pages all of the scrubs and gives them their assignments. Drew’s specific project is to shadow Cox and ignore his study group, who have grown too reliant on him. Cox chooses Lucy to be the new leader because she asked. Quickly there’s a mutiny with little Asian man. Drew explains to Lucy you have go crazy on him. Lucy beats the crap out of him. Didn’t work. Drew keeps trying to help but Cox is always hovering. In the end Drew stands up to him and announces he’s the king of the parasites. Cox announces he knew it would happen because he’s like him and can’t help himself. Duh. Don’t take the aggressive approach to leadership, that’s Cox’s shtick. Status quo regained!

Meanwhile Turk became Chief of Surgery for the free parking space, the asskissing and to have the ability to give anybody nicknames. Denise cutely stops Turk from eating something surgery due to his diabetes. Turk has some competition with a new doctor Russell who is more worldly and wrote a book and has a rope bracelet. Russell helps solve the latest Drew/Denise problem and outdances Turk! He’s the damn Devil! I really did not like seeing Turk pull a hamstring in the middle of a dance routine. It’s hard to watch your heroes try and perform past their prime.Kind of reminds me of Michael Jordan on the Wizards. Russell offers Turk the awesome job of assistant for his complicated surgery, and after Denise and Kelso emasculate him a bit he agrees reluctantly.

The lesson learned from Lucy and Turkelton was know your role in life and live accordingly. Right? The lesson was as usual kind of murky. Feels forced nowadays. Stop trying to teach me stuff!

We also had Drew and Denise settling into their relationship after admitting they love each other. I have to hand it to the latter half of episodes in this Med School season with not only having C storylines, but having them be as interesting and character developing as the others.

And that might be it for the Jordan on the Wizards season.*

Things to say in the Hall of Fame speech

  • Kelso: “He has nailed some top international shelf.” “Boohoo, it takes 11 minutes to pee.”
  • “I lost my virginity to a sofa.”
  • “I cry when I watch ‘The Bachelor.’ And I watch ‘The Bachelor.’”

  • * That isn’t really fair since the Wizards didn’t make the playoffs in either of Jordan’s comeback seasons. I’d say Scrubs would make the postseason of television, putting up a good fight before losing in the first round.
