When we last left these crazy kid they were in Hamburg, Germany enjoying the fine music of a Beatles cover band. This leg is most definitely not as fun as the last.
During their mandatory rest period they all boarded a bus to an unknown location. We know it, it is Les Montharions, France. From there, they have to drive to a bread shop and find Boulangerie Defontaine. They have to buy a baguette and inside is their next clue.
The detectives are the first to leave and have no problem finding the place, they asked a postal worker. Them and everyone else agree, it’s the best bread they’ve ever had!
They clue tells them to head to La Main de Massiges. There they encounter their Detour. They have the choice: in the trenches or under fire. In the trenches, they have to find a communication device and decode a Morse code message while the battle rages above them. In under fire they must crawl in a barbed wire field to get their message and then crawl back. In both choices, they have to then attach their message to a carrier pigeon and send it out to receive their next clue.
On the Detour instructions, they are warned U-turn ahead!
Jeff and Jordan are actually so far behind, time-wise that most of the teams are at the Detour when they are just leaving the Pit Stop. Ouch.
All the teams choose under fire and power on through he physical challenge. Brandy is much less than thrilled about this but they finish, just like everyone else without issue.
Once they finish the Detour they have the chance to U-turn someone, blindly and then get the directions to their next clue. They have to get to Church de Massiges and then cycle to the Pit Stop in old fashioned garb, reminiscent of the first Tour De France in 1903. The Detectives are the first to check in for the second time in a row.
Louis and Michael blind U-turn Joe and Heidi, so they have to go back and do the Morse code. While they struggle with this Jeff and Jordan finally show up. For their Speed Bump, they have to reinforce a trench wall before they can receive their Detour clue. They of course, choose under fire.
Brent and Caite once again get lost, they don’t follow a road correctly and find not their next clue, but another. So they finish the cycling bit and then have to go back out and find their missing clue. Even with this set back, they still finish sixth.
Jeff and Jordan struggle through their Detour but not nearly as much as Joe and Heidi, they couldn’t decode the message and in turn, were eliminated from the race.
I must say, that pressure is back but with so many teams I don’t like, it’s more fun watching people struggle that succeed. While this makes me sound like a horrible person, I did enjoy watching Dan and Jordan have an absolute ball this leg of the race. So, we’re even.
