This season has been very different from season’s past for only one reason. There has been almost no game play. And when there is, it is hardly tolerated and the one instigator is thrown out on their big ole butt. What it really takes though, is the end being in sight for it to truly come out.
At the end of last week’s elimination, after Victoria leaves, Allison calls in the rest of the players. She informs them that this week they are going on a mission, to the state with five of the ten fattest cities in the US, Texas. Everything is bigger there, isn’t that what they say?
So they go to Texas and are told they’ll have limited Bob and Jillian time. Workout wisely! I don’t even think this will be important in the end.
They pair up and head on out to local radio stations to promote a 5k run they’ll be doing the next day. They share their stories and get a hundred people out to support each contestant. Not a hundred each, just in all. I thought it looked a little sad, not even filling half a football field but whatevs.
They each gives some motivation to their teams and they’re off! We spend an large amount of time listening to these people’s stories, people that we will probably never hear from again. They inspired the contestants by being inspired by them, it’s a never ending wheel of inspiration! This goes on for longer than I would care for but I’m sure there are people out their with hearts that aren’t made of stone so this is fine. For them.
Bob and Jillian’s time is limited because they’re out doing stuff with other people. Bob has a workout in a local 24 Hour Fitness and Jillian meets up with season 8 contestant, Abby to talk at her high school. She meets a girl who is overweight and has a sad story and inspires her to do something with her life, but again. We’re probably never going to see this girl again.
We start to see the breaking of alliances here now. Yellow and Gray are attached at the hip so this forces Daris, Ashley and Mike to band together. Hmmm, that game play that they were so against earlier is starting to come on out…
They get to their challenge and this week’s reward is immunity. They have to herd as many calf in their own pen before time is up, the one with the most wins. Yellow bands together, both going for O’Neal’s pen and Gray both go for Koli’s, since he fell on the sword for Sam the week before. Mike sees that he has no chance so he might as well help out Daris so at least one of them stick around. In the end, Koli wins in a tight race.
At their last chance work out, Yellow had to go home for O’Neal’s funeral and their trainers are not happy. Family obligations yes, that’s fine but they’re stepping off a plane, all bloated minutes before a weigh-in. They beat them to a pulp, Ashley is even near tears. But this is a game man! They gotta be in it to win it!
They must have not anticipated the weather for this weigh-in, they’re outside in near freezing weather. That’s so smart. Koli puts up a bad number, but who cares he has immunity. Both Sunshine and O’Neal put up just okay numbers and this is an issue when everyone else reaches the goal they need to stay above the yellow line. O’Neal’s worst nightmare! They’re both below the line! O’Neal tells everyone that if they respect him, they will just vote him out because he wants his daughter to stick around. And that is exactly what everyone does.
When they show O’Neal at home, he has lost a bunch more weight and is excited to be able to put his own shoes on. It’s the little things in life, right?
Next week is what I’ve been waiting for. MAKEOVER WEEK! I really hope I don’t die of excitement before then!
