And in the end, a good number of people were left disappointed with “The End.” They wanted confirmation that the polar bear came from Tunisia through the donkey wheel, instead of just putting 2 and 2 together (making 4, of course). They wanted to know why Dharma left at least one care package long after their involvement on the island had ended. They wanted to know why Sawyer’s hair was short in the original plane crash but was suddenly long in all of the flashbacks of it. For the viewers that thought they had been watching a better version of a science-fiction show like The X Files and ended up viewing a character study that happened to have science-fiction in it, the ending made them feel like they were suckered into watching Touched by an Angel. Yeah, that would make me a little angry too. Read more…
Lost: The End
Let’s get something straight here: I really liked “The End”. I know I might not be in the majority on that one, but give me some time and I’ll try and convince you. And if I fail, I’ll still be glad we talked about the show. Read more…
The 15…Okay, 16, Greatest Moments of Lost
Well here we are: the end of Lost. A lot of people are making jokes that they’ll have to get a life again after six years of watching this addictive program. As for me, I feel that in some way I developed more of a life from watching every episode. Because of Lost I’ve read books I wouldn’t have read, became a pseudo-expert on a couple of religions, brushed up on philosophy and had my imagination stretched from my home to Tunisia. According to Jim never had that effect on me.
To celebrate, and maybe just for an excuse to watch them again, here are the top 15 (but really 16) greatest moments from the show. I put them in chronological order and chose not to rank them, because we’re all winners in this timeline. Everybody get in line for your Dharma trophy! Read more…
Lost: What They Died For
Lost: Across The Sea
You know, no matter what happened tonight, people were going to be disappointed. When you answer questions that have been being asked since as far back as 2004, and those answers don’t jive with the answers that you’ve steadfastly claiming to friends and family on drunken late nights and message boards all this time, yeah, it’s frown town.
But what the hell! I had a lot of money riding on Adam and Eve! Read more…
Lost: The Candidate
Hope you like a big ol’ cry! Lost just turned to Breaking Bad and said, “Oh that’s cute. Let’s show you how it’s done.” Read more…
Lost: The Last Recruit
Last Lost for two whole weeks. Ugh. This show is on full speed ahead mode and it’s great. Read more…
Lost: Everybody Loves Hugo
This episode had everything. EVERYTHING! I SHOUT A LITTLE IN THIS! Sorry that you should have been a spoiler alert. But yeah, last Hurley centric episode of Lost, and in television, ever. Sad +1.
Let’s start on the “Alternate Bizarro Timeline”, as Mr. Reyes referred to it. Read more…
Lost: Happily Ever After
One of the reasons why Desmond Hume is such a favorite is because of how simple his desire was: he wanted to see his beloved again. Awws. Another reason for the popularity is that this simple desire was extremely difficult to achieve, what with time travel, electromagnetism, saving the world, 4 x 4’s to the back of the head and a billionaire father-in-law who doesn’t like him getting in the way. In fact, the contemporary, sci-fi re-telling of The Odyssey was on purpose. Like, Penny is short for Penelope, which was the name of Odysseus’s wife. Like duh you guys. Anyway, when Desmond and Penny finally found each other again, the moment was well earned, because they had been through a lot. Jin and Sun have been around longer, but the best couple on the show will always be Penny and Des. It certainly didn’t hurt naming their son Charlie. But when they found each other it was the Season 4 finale, and I thought “uh oh Spaghetti O’s.” Two seasons left and they’re happy? Characters don’t stay happy, unless it’s written that they are happy in the final pages, frames or episode. And sure enough, Widmore has Desmond back at craphole island, drugged and still not offering him the expensive whiskey. So I’m concerned now that Widmore has Hume back on Craphole Island. Will Desmond and Penny be happy in the end? You know, “Happily Ever After”? Read more…
Lost: The Package
Damn. Damn damn damn. I was wrong to think that tonight’s episode was going to be below-average because it was a Jin/Sun flashback. For one thing, I forget that they were Desmond and Penny before Desmond and Penny existed. For another, it didn’t even matter: the show is finally bringing it this year, and you can tell, even if you don’t know what “it” is. Read more…
