Special Report: The Most Interesting Character On Television

I was used to this…incredibly rosy cheeked, I’m going to say man as one of the Buy More employees on Chuck that never uttered a single word. This bespectacled bastard child of Harpo Marx and Raggedy Ann was a part of the fictional universe of the one program, and nothing more. A lucky extra really.

Previously on Chuck…we learned Sarah’s real name (Sam), Chuck broke up with Hannah, and Sarah/Sam finally hooked up with Shaw.

This week, Chuck has performance anxiety and has to overcome his impotence.  This episode is directed by Zachary Levi.  I’ll try to be easy on him.

Chuck: 3×08 – Chuck Versus the Fake Name

Previously on Chuck…Chuck and Sarah have officially gotten over each other and moved on with Hannah and Shaw respectively.  And simultaneously, which is convenient, because you never want your ex to move on before you do.

This week, that convenience goes out the window.

Previously on Chuck…Awesome is even more awesome than we thought (except when it comes to lying and spying), The Ring is back, Morgan has been promoted to ASSistant MANager, and Superman Brandon Routh joins the cast as Superagent Daniel Shaw.

This week, Chuck is sent to Paris for his first solo mission. Can he pull it off? Will it be a disaster? Probably both. Here we go…

Chuck: 3×04 – Chuck Versus Operation Awesome

First, a correction to my last two recaps. It was brought to my attention that Chuck’s original 13-episode order was extended to 19 a few months ago, so I guess that makes the filler forgivable. Though really, it’s only totally forgivable if Jeffster makes an appearance.

Last week’s episode ended with Awesome captured and presumably killed by The Ring. Clearly that was just a tease, as it was immediately followed by previews for this week’s episode showing Devon alive and well. Okay, not well, still in peril, but alive.

This week picks up where last week left off, with Devon in the hands of The Ring. Or some hot chick from The Ring interrogating Devon on a rooftop. She thinks he’s a spy. To be fair, he looks the part.

Chuck: 3×01-3×02

A third season of Chuck! Chuck’s renewal last year was a bit of a surprise and probably had a lot to do with the Save Chuck campaign on Twitter when it looked like a third season wouldn’t be happening. The ending of the epic second season finale made it seem that even the showrunners were sure it would be the end of the show. Chuck knows kung fu! It’s a bit of a shark jump if it was planned, but I think it could provide a much-needed reboot to the show’s dynamics. As last season’s Jill arc showed, the show could quickly become stale if the loose ends weren’t tied up soon with a big twist to shake things up again. Luckily for us, that’s exactly what happened, and this season looks to be full of excitement.

Tonight, we get a two-hour Sunday premiere before the show returns to its regular Monday spot. Only 13 episodes were ordered, so the ratings for the premiere could decide whether or not the back 9 will be ordered, but with the Leno moving out of primetime, the bar is going to be a lot lower this year. Let’s hope for at least one good thing to come out of that fiasco.
