News: Party Down Canceled

Party Down was officially canceled today, because apparently you need viewers to stay on the air. Really Starz? Two hundred airings of Year Zero is going to do that much better in the ratings? The answer to my question is no absolutely not. And don’t get me started on Gravity.

At the very least, “Constance Carmell Wedding” was a really good series finale which gave most of the characters a bit open-ended but otherwise satisfying ending.

R.I.P. Party Down.

Party Down: Constance Carmell Wedding

I’m a little late in writing this because I don’t want the party to end, you know? In some ways this has been an almost perfect show that only the “cool kids” know about, making it perfect. It’s totally the “Love Buzz” Sub Pop singles club 7″ b/w “Big Cheese” of television. But much like all great beautiful things, it’s time on Earth is ephemeral; “Constance Carmell Wedding” is the series’ 20th and possibly last episode. Read more…

Party Down: Cole Landry’s Draft Day Party

Cole Landry has it all: he’s got the Johnny American handsomeness going, he’s a projected early first round selection in the NFL draft, and he’s the boyfriend of a very caring man. Unfortunately that last part is for some reason frowned upon by professional football, so when Landry doesn’t get drafted fourth like he is supposed to, shit starts to go down. Read more…

Party Down: Joel Munt’s Big Deal Party

Let’s get this out of the way: Bubbles from The Wire was in this episode, but not only did they disrespect him by not making him the headlining guest star, they made him drink piss from a champagne glass. That’s just plain type casting and Party Down should be above that. Read more…

Party Down: Not On Your Wife Opening Night

Welcome to the the-ATER! “Not On Your Wife Opening Night” centered around the Lyre of Oprheus Theater’s opening night celebration of their production of Not On Your Wife. That’s really punny. Haha and hehe’s abound. And much like the play itself, the Party Down caterers end up involved in a little farcical adventure of their own. Read more…

Party Down: Steve Guttenberg’s Birthday

So Steve Guttenberg you guys. He’s alive apparently. And in ridiculous shape. And still celebrates birthdays. That’s where our lovable catering heroes came into the picture. Read more…

Party Down: James Ellison Funeral

Even more bad news for Party Down came through today when it was announced that Ryan Hansen (Kyle)’s pilot was picked up by NBC. Considering this and Adam Scott (Henry)’s new full-time gig on Parks and Recreation, it looks like there are several nails being pounded away in this show’s coffin. A coffin that apparently Ron would love to hang out in… Read more…

Party Down: Nick DiCinto’s Orgy Night

When I saw that Thomas Lennon was guest starring, and in the cold open he tells the Party Down caterers to “stay out of the Fuck Room”, I knew this was going to be a classic. Read more…

Party Down: Precious Lights Pre-School Auction

I would never hire Ron to do anything. If I were asked to present my case for Ron being the worst employee of all-time, “Precious Lights Pre-School Auction” would be submitted as Exhibit A. Read more…
